Varsity Boys Hockey

The Varsity Boys’ Hockey team competes in the New England Preparatory Athletic Council (NEPSAC). We play a highly competitive schedule, including two holiday tournaments against many top hockey programs in New England. 

Our team’s goals are simple: we develop players who reach their full potential on the ice and in the classroom. The coaching staff sets high expectations for our teams to compete and play the game hard while also demonstrating great sportsmanship. We value leadership, humility, and respect for others–skills that allow our student-athletes to lead active and rewarding lives. Our goal is to place our student-athletes at a highly regarded academic institution where they are able to play hockey and become valuable community members. 

Daniel Donato

Dan Donato holds a bachelor’s degree in education from Boston University, where he played for both the hockey and baseball teams. After graduating, he had a six-year professional career with the New York Yankees and Tampa Bay Rays. Donato has coached hockey and baseball for more than 25 years between Dexter Southfield and his prior role at the Salisbury School. He has also coached baseball for Harvard University. He has coached his hockey teams to two New England Championships and numerous other league championships in both hockey and baseball. His hockey teams have qualified for the New England Prep School Tournament every year he has coached. Donato was named the Prep School coach of the year in 2006 and 2011 and has helped numerous students move on to collegiate play at Division I and Division III schools.
