Varsity Rowing

The rowing program competes in the New England Interscholastic Rowing Association (NEIRA) and competes against other top rowing programs throughout New England. We aim to foster a love of the sport, a fearless work ethic that will benefit students in the sport and beyond, a self-awareness that supports being a great teammate, a quiet confidence born out of a diligent preparation, and a humility that will position students to be excellent leaders. We develop rowers from the beginner to most experienced levels with the goal of achieving team success and collegiate placement. 

Andrew Carter

Andrew Carter holds a bachelor’s degree in biomechanics from Dalhousie University and a master’s degree in biomechanics from Western University. He holds a Level 4 coaching certificate and Master Instructor certificate from the Coaching Associate of Canada, and a Level 3 coaching certificate from USRowing. As an athlete, Carter had medal performances at the Canadian National Championships and multiple wins at the Royal Canadian Henley Regatta.  

Coach Carter has extensive coaching experience as head coach of the US U23 Women’s National Team, University of Iowa, University of Miami, Otago Regional Team, Bates College, Vassar College, and the Nova Scotia Provincial Team and as assistant coach at Clemson University, at the University of Southern California, and of the Canada Women’s National Team. He has coached his team to medals at the World Rowing U23 Championships, NCAA DIII Championships, the Royal Holland Cup, the Royal Canadian Henley Regatta, the New Zealand Championships, the Canadian Championships, and the Head of the Charles. At the Henley Royal Regatta, his team was the first Big Ten team to ever win matches.
